frequently asked questions
Studio & Classes
Do you offer memberships?
Yes! Memberships are the heart and soul of the Nook. Memberships are currently on a waitlist. Please click here to learn more, and fill out an application to join the wailist.
Can I fire my own work in your kiln?
At this time, we are not able to accommodate outside work. Please join the studio to access the kiln.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Absolutely! Gift certificates can be purchased by contacting Jill directly. Gift certificates can be redeemed for classes, private lessons, ceramics, etc.
What is your cancellation policy? Can I make-up my class?
For private lessons, cancel or reschedule at least 72 hours before the lesson to receive a full refund. Within the 72 hour window, reach out to Jill directly to cancel or rebook. Cancellations made within the 72 hour window will forfeit their deposit. For multi-week classes, it is the responsibility of the participant to ensure that they can attend each class session as no make-up time is provided. There may be exceptions made for illness or unforeseen circumstances, please communicate with Jill and she will do her best to try to accommodate, but cannot guarantee make-up time due to scheduling conflicts with other classes and member’s schedules.
Shop & Commissions
Do you offer customization or commissioned works?
Yes! Contact me and describe what you are looking for to start the process of creating a quote. Custom work has a generous lead time (5 weeks at minimum, depending on the project), patience is a virtue! High quality ceramics can last multiple generations if well-loved and taken care of, so your custom work will be well worth the wait.
I live in Durango/I am visiting Durango. Can I come pick up my ceramics?
Absolutely!! I prefer this! It saves everyone time, money, and resources. I even offer a local delivery option.
What is your return policy?
I will accept returns within 30 days of purchase for unused ceramics. For shipped items, the customer accepts all responsibility + charges for return shipping and assumes all risk with shipping.
What if my ceramics arrive broken in the mail?
Big sad! Knock on wood, but I have only had this happen once, and I replaced the broken piece with something similar. I am an extremely small business (just me!) and will try my best to make it right, either through a refund or a replacement. I pride myself in packaging things very well (using almost all recycled/recyclable paper packaging) but accidents do happen between point A and B.
What if I drop my ceramic piece and it breaks?
Nook Ceramics are meant to be used and loved every day, and accidents happen! Unfortunately, I cannot replace broken ceramics due to accidents. My first recommendation is to try using E600 Glue to fix the piece. It is remarkably strong: I have successfully reattached mug handles with this glue and it is hardly noticeable, and it is dishwasher safe. Please reach out if you would like further advice on fixing/repairing ceramics.
